Andrew Richards is the founder of Codeplay. Based in Edinburgh, Codeplay was set up in 1999 to research and develop advanced compiler technologies for parallel systems and next generation multi-core processor architectures. The company offers custom compilers for advanced architectures such as asymmetric multi-core processors, GPUs, custom vector processors and graphics shader units.
Codeplay also provides customised compiler technology at high level (for taking single-core C/C++ software and splitting it up into multi-core software) and low level (for taking multi-core C/C++ and compiling to highly scheduled and vectorized assembly language). Codeplay’s compiler technology was chosen by AGEIA™ Technologies, Inc., the pioneer in hardware-accelerated physics for games, to power its revolutionary Physics Processing Unit, the PhysX™ chip.
